PIPWIN WINES
With just one acre planted to vines, Pipwin is a tiny winery dedicated to the production of traditional, handcrafted premium wines in small parcels. While never approaching commercial quantities, the wines from this Penola vineyard in the heart of Coonawarra represent the continuing pursuit of excellence by one of Australia’s first female winemakers, Phillipa Treadwell.
Phillipa concentrates on just three wines – a sparkling white - “Eloise”, a sparkling red – “Shaz” – and a cabernet which Phillipa has dubbed “Essential Coonawarra.” A “Riesling” from Clare is also available
Three grape varieties make up the “Eloise” sparkling white – chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meuniere. After hand picking and pressing, the blend is bottle fermented in the traditional Methode Champenoise manner. The “Essential Coonawarra” cabernet is matured in French oak barriques.
